Pairs short program

Elena Berezhnaya / Anton Sikharulidze   RUS
Red costumes
Sbs 3T he doubles, 2Tw, th3Lp no problem, sbs spins OK, FIDS
Except the pop on the 3T and maybe a little lack of speed (only a little), it was a great program.
My marks : 5.5  5.7  (judges gave 5.4 to 5.7 and 5.7-5.8)

Dorota Zagorska/ Mariusz Siudek   POL
Dark reddish costumes
2Tw, sbs3T she fell, sbs spin great, th3S !! (room for another turn ??), pair spin, FIDS
Her fall on the 3T was not a surprise, she had problem with it during practice.
Again, a strong program but not really sparkling... i don't really see them repeating a medal at Worlds given the tough field there is now in pairs; but anyway, Worlds are far.
My marks :  5.3  5.5  (judges 5.0-5.2  5.3-5.6)

Qing Pang / Jian Tong   CHN
All in black, same program as last year i would say.
Th3S light, 2ft take-off, sbs3T she fell he t-out, 2Tw huge, FIDS, spiral seuence, then she fell on the lift while changing position; she was just above his head, parallel to the ice and to his shoulders axis; it was not a very big fall, but it is still scary and brings back bad memories. I don't think she was  injured, but she doesn't have much to lessen the impact, if you know what i mean... Anyway, it was very nice to see her stand up immediately and to go on with the program, which they ended with a sbs spin, camel and sit.
She was crying in the K&C afterwards :-(
My marks : 4.5  4.7 (judges 3.9-4.7  4.8-5.2)

End of group 1

Group 2 begins !
Valerie Marcoux / Bruno Marcotte, CAN
Both in black, in a blues music with electric guitars.
2Tw, sbs3T OK but not in synchro, th3S, sbs spin OK, spiral sequence kinda easy, lift with a very original exit (on his back, turning), FIDS. Good program, liked it ! They are fast, and promising IMHO.
My marks 5.4  5.5  (judges 4.8-5.3  4.9-5.5)  (OK, here i was maybe a bit over realistic with marks... ;-))

Viktoria Shklover/ Valdis Mintals   EST
Black and white costume, the top is white with vertical black and sparky stripes.
Funny program, circus-like music.
2Tw, sbs 3T she fell (struggled with it in practice), th3S fall (ditto), sbs spins OK, FIDS, pair spin OK.
They were a bit too slow, it somewhat shows they are junior.
My marks 4.3   4.5  (judges 3.8-4.4  4.5-5.0)

Jamie Sale / David Pelletier   CAN
Black and violet-red costumes.
Funny program on a bluesy music.
Th3Lp, sbs 3T (and she did struggle in practice with the jump, no problem here); 2Tw high, FIDS, sbs spin, great lift, spiral sequence fast.
Wow !
My marks : 5.8  5.9 (judges 5.5-5.8  5.6-5.9)

End of group 2

Group 3

Sarah Abitbol / Stephane Bernadis
Ninja ! Black costumes with red and yellow patterns
Sbs 3T he fell, 2Tw high, th3Lp landing not perfect, spiral sequence original, sbs spin OK, BODS, pairs spin.
Too bad for the fall on the 3T, he had done a very light one during warm-up.
My marks 5.3  5.7 (judges 5.2-5.3  5.5-5.7)
Anyway this progam is very original and has a lot of potential.

Sabrina Lefrancois / Jerome Blanchard
Black and white costumes.
Sbs 3T, 2Tw, th3S picky, BODS, sbs spin sit camel change foot camel sit
My marks 4.8  4.9  (judges 4.8-5.4  4.6-5.6, the russian judge apparently like them a lot !)
Very good program for their first international competition ! Sometimes it showed they are a new pairs, edge were not always solid. But a promising pair :-)

Kyoko Ina / John Zimmerman   USA
Grey and black costumes. Same program as last year i'd say.
Sbs 3T great, 2Tw, th3S light, BODS
My marks 5.7  5.8  (judges 5.3 !! -5.8   5.4-5.8).
They would have probably deserved to be in second place, their program was really nice. Didn't understand the 5.3 in technique.

N.B. : can be wrong on edges of DS... i think a precise DS is required for the short, like BODS or FIDS, but seeing my notes i just wonder...
